ABPI statement on the death of Aisling Burnand

The former CEO of the Association of Medical Research Charities, Aisling Burnand, has died from bowel cancer. 

Aisling was a powerhouse in advocating for the change needed to improve the lives of patients. She provided inspirational leadership and a powerful voice for the role that medical research charities play in the life sciences sector and will be very much missed by many. In response to this sad news, ABPI Chief Executive Richard Torbett said: 

“Everyone at the ABPI is deeply saddened to hear of the death of Aisling Burnand.

 

“Aisling was a powerhouse in advocating for the change needed to improve the lives of patients.  Colleagues across the ABPI worked closely with Aisling throughout her career, including in her roles leading the BioIndustry Association and the Association of Medical Research Charities.  She provided inspirational leadership and a powerful voice for the role that medical research charities play in the life sciences sector and will be very much missed by many.
